Security from Desktop to Data Center

By centralizing all of the software, management, and data into the data center, Pano System virtual desktops eliminate many of the potential security issues that can plague traditional desktop PCs. Key security features include:

  • Malware-free Endpoint - because it has no operating system or even a processor capable of running software, the Pano Device provides a completely secure endpoint that is immune to viruses and other malware, freeing you both from the work of cleaning up infections and from having to pay client-side anti-malware software license and subscription fees.
  • No Local Storage = No Stolen Data - the Pano Device has no local storage capabilities - not even any internal memory - so data is never stored on the endpoint, not even for an instant, eliminating security breaches and data losses from lost or stolen endpoints.
  • Information Leakage Prevented - locally connected storage and USB peripherals can be disabled to prevent users from copying information to local devices, including any USB devices such a flash memory keys.
  • Encrypted Network Traffic - traffic over the LAN from the Pano Devices is protected using 128-bit AES encryption to ensure that keystrokes cannot be captured.
  • Centralized and Secure Backup - user data and files can be backed up and recovered without interrupting users.  And since the data is all within the data center where SANs and other network storage optimizations can be applied, backing up entire desktop images, complete with the operating system and installed applications is practical and doesn't needlessly clog peripheral LANs with potentially insecure traffic.
  • Comprehensive Monitoring and Management - Pano Manager can monitor and log Pano Device activities to provide a central record of desktop virtual machine connections easily accessible to IT staff from any web browser.
  • Secured Remote Access - Pano Remote and Pano Gateway use the well established SSL encryption protocol along with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Remote Desktop Services to securely communicate across wide area networks like the Internet without requiring costly and complex VPN hardware and software.

Obviously security must still be a key concern of IT staff responsible for business critical data and computing facilities.  But we think the inherent security advantages of centralized virtual desktops, along with the capabilities engineered into the Pano System and Pano Remote will make it a little easier for you to be even more secure.
